The floor below is in a house constructed in 1959. The original floor was white ceramic tile. On top of the ceramic were 3 layers of material that had to be removed along with the ceramic tile. There was vinyl flooring attached to the ceramic tile. On top of that was a low-grade concrete used to level the floor for the newest vinyl flooring. The old floors were removed with a sledge hammer, chisel, and angle grinder.

After acid-staining the floor with a combination of Sea Mist Green and Charcoal, the final result was a dramatic improvement as shown below.This job was done by a do-it-yourself homeowner who had never used acid staining before.
